action

Ten-year-old Jim and his older sister Mary lose their father on the 100-mile trip to Dawson City while they seek shelter in a cabin. The half-wolf Buck, whom Jim once freed from a trap, accompanies them; he was abandoned by his owner and led a pack of wolves in the wild. From time to time he returns to Jim to help him and his sister.

Jim and Mary arrive in Klondike, where they clash with the quick-tempered, tyrannical landowner William Bates. Thanks to the newly established friendship with John Conoco, Sonia and Charlie and again with Buck's help, they escape the traps and meanness of Bates' when they take over the publication of the newspaper "Dawson City Nugget" from their father; after all, they can take out Bates and his people. The town can begin a better future.

criticism

"The innovations in narrative and cinematic form are not enough to justify this new film adaptation, but thanks to the outstanding performance of the humanized dog, it is sufficient to entertain the target audience - especially children - in an adventurous way", so the Italian criticism.

Remarks

Joan Collins sings the movie song "The Sound of the Wild".
