Life
As the son of the Cologne architect Vincenz Statz , Franz Statz initially entered his studio when he finished school. He then went on to study architecture in Berlin and worked for a local building authority there for several years. Until the early death of his older brother Jean (1846–1887), he also worked as a teacher at the Bauakademie , but then returned to his father's studio in Cologne, which he also took over around 1889/90. In Cologne, Statz worked as his father as a diocesan master builder until 1901, before he took up the position of master builder in Linz until 1909 as his second successor.
