Bleibuir is a district of Mechernich , Euskirchen district , in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The village is about a kilometer south of Bergbuir . State road 169 runs through the village , which in turn connects to federal road 265 .

history

In 893 the place was first mentioned as a Bure in the Prümer Urbar . Because of its affiliation with the rule of Schleiden in the Middle Ages it was also Schleidenbuere called until it for its lead mines then in Grenzbegang 1512 Schleidenbuere nune Bleybuer was called. In Liber valoris one is pastor Burinus mentioned. The place is still popularly called Bür . Until 1969 Bleibuir was an independent municipality. The parish church of St. Agnes , built from 1873 to 1898 (tower) according to plans by Vinzenz Statz after the previous church had been demolished, is the focus of the surrounding villages. The former school has been converted into a village community center . As a special feature there is a former Jewish cemetery . In 1860 the place had 48 (14.5%) Jewish inhabitants.

Lead ore was mined in Bleibuir from the earliest times (until 1957). The lead mine "Gute Hope" and many spoil heaps testify to this. The mining is already documented for the Romans , but probably goes back to the Celts. Nearby, the Roman road from Trier to Cologne ran along the Ravenley directly over the Bleiberg .

On July 1, 1969, Bleibuir was incorporated into Mechernich.
