Firmenich is a northern district of Mechernich in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Euskirchen . The Bleibach flows through the village. Firmenich Castle is well worth seeing .

The village has a community center and the St. Barbara chapel . The so-called “Zikkurat” culture and leisure factory with a total floor space of 12,000 m² is also located in Firmenich.

history

Firmenich is a settlement of Roman-Celtic origin, while the castle was built in the Middle Ages . There used to be the Jewish Firmenich cemetery near the village .

On July 1, 1969, the community was Satzvey-Firmenich to Veytal incorporated.

On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Veytal (with the exception of the district Schwerfen, which came to the city of Zülpich ) was incorporated into the municipality (now the city) of Mechernich .

The L 11 runs through the village directly on the B 266 . The next junction is Euskirchen-Wißkirchen on the A 1 .
