history

Floisdorf was first mentioned in 893 in the Prümer Urbar . At that time Floisdorf was called "Flavedesdorpht" or "Fladesdorpht" for short.

The townscape is characterized by the late 19th and early 20th century buildings with facades made of the shell limestone and red sandstone that were broken on site, but the oldest buildings date from the 17th century, and the remainder of the structure even dates from the 16th century.

As early as 1291 there was a pilgrimage church in the village . The construction of today's parish church of St. Pankratius began in 1890. In 2004 the population built a chapel on their own in the district , which was consecrated to St. Hubertus.

The municipality of Floisdorf was initially under the Eicks office, later the Hergarten office, before it was incorporated into Mechernich on July 1, 1969.

In the competition at that time “Our village should be more beautiful”, today “ Our village has a future ”, Floisdorf was named Germany's most beautiful village with a gold medal in the 1971 national competition.
