Economy and Infrastructure

Satzvey station

economy

From 1922 to 1995 the Satzveyer clay and kaolin works in Satzvey operated a clay pit and a connecting railway to the DB train station. It was a field railway, track width 600 mm, electrified, 220 V, 50 Hz.

traffic

From August 11, 1895 to December 31, 1965, the so-called "Eifel route" of the Euskirchener Kreisbahnen ran through Satzvey , where the Eifelbahn Cologne - Trier crossed at the same height. Furthermore, Satzvey has its own train station on the same Eifelbahn, which is served by RB trains from Köln-Kall.

Curiosities

During the Cold War , the State Central Bank of North Rhine-Westphalia set up its bunkered alternative seat under today's Waldorf School at Veybach (then the central school).

The strategy reality showGet the F * ck out of my House ”, which was broadcast on ProSieben for the first time on January 4, 2018, was filmed in an empty house in Satzvey. Before filming began, there were critical discussions at the meeting of the Mechernich city council due to the television project, as the production company had applied for a building permit due to the unusual use of the house. The parliamentary groups regretted the residents who were already bothered by regular events at the Satzvey moated castle. The building permit was granted because the production company assured that after arrival, filming would only take place inside the house.
