Sightseeing and tourism
The Falkenstein Mill
The mill in Eiserfey is mentioned for the first time in a wisdom from 1597 as a forced mill for Vussem. In addition to the residents from Eiserfey and Vussem, those from Lorbach and Bergheim were also dependent on this mill. After the mill was built in Vollem in 1733, there was tough competition between the millers for customers. The mill, which was named "Falkensteinsmühle" after the miller, is still fully functional today. The water wheel can be seen up close.
Ironworks
On May 6, 1696, the Elector of Cologne, Joseph Clemens, allowed Franz von Quentell, the lien holder of the Hardt office, to build an ironworks in Eiserfey, which was connected to a hammer mill powered by three water wheels . After a fire, the house was converted into a residential building, in which you can still see a water wheel today (Hauserbachstrasse 4). On the other side of the street is a building that used to be a warehouse, coal shed and stables for the pack animals. This 30-meter-long half-timbered house, the Alte Hammer , was converted into a residential building after the hut was closed.
The powder mill
The administration of a former powder mill ( powder factory ) from the 19th century was located in Hauserbachstrasse No. 9 . It is said that several fatal accidents occurred here.
The Roman reservoir
The water ducts from the Roman well room Klausbrunnen near von Kallmuth and from the Urfeyer Bach as well as the water ducts from Dreimühlen and Weyer were collected here and led to Cologne as the main line of the Roman Eifel aqueduct . The ground monument , protected from the weather by an octagon , is explained by information boards.
St. Wendelin Church
On the old street is the cath. St. Wendelin Church, a building from 1934 to 1936 according to plans by architect Hans Jülich, with a baroque vestibule from 1733.
