Culture and sights
- In the Mechernich forest northeast of Katzvey are the Katzensteine , a striking rock formation made of red sandstone natural rocks. In Roman times the rocks were used as a quarry . ( Location → )
- Haus Hombusch is located in the south of the village ( location → ). The building was built as a vacation home by the Cologne banker Karl Theodor Deichmann , co-owner of the Deichmann & Co. bank. In order to supply the house with its own electricity and water, the client had a pump house with an unusual water and electricity supply system built on the site of a former stamping mill for lead extraction in the valley ( location → ). The entire system is still in its original state today. It is a technical monument that documents the start of electrification in the Eifel as a small power station.
- The hidden mouth of the Burgfeyer tunnel is not far from here. The tunnel was started in 1807 and extends to the village of Dottel, 7.45 km away . The tunnel still drains the Mechernich lead mountain today.
