The Schavener Heide nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Mechernich in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area extends northeast of the core city of Mechernich and east of the Mechernich district of Schaven . The B 266 runs to the west, the L 61 and L 11 state roads and the A 1 run to the east .
