The Rotbach- und Bruchbachtal nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Mechernich in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area, which consists of three sub-areas, extends northwest of the core city of Mechernich and northeast of the Mechernich district of Bleibuir . The B 477 and B 266 run to the east, and the L 169 state road runs to the southwest .

For Mechernich, an area of ​​230.68 hectares has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number EU-094 since 2001 . The area was placed under protection in order to preserve and restore the near-natural flowing water system and the adjacent areas with the habitats typical of stream valleys in this landscape area.
