The nature reserve Michelsbach, Ahbach and Aulbach with tributaries is located in the area of the municipality of Blankenheim (Ahr) in the district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area, which consists of eight sub-areas, extends southeast of the core town of Blankenheim and east of the Dollendorf district of Blankenheim . The federal highway 258 runs through it and the Ahr flows . State road 115 runs to the west .
The nature reserve is part of the EU bird sanctuary " Ahrgebirge ".
meaning
Since 2003, a 364.60 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Blankenheim under the identification number EU-096. The protection is given in particular because of the importance of a large part of the area for the establishment of a coherent ecological network of special protection areas in Europe.
