The Urfttal nature reserve with side valleys is located in the area of ​​the municipality of Dahlem in the district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends northeast of the core town of Dahlem and north of the Dahlem district of Schmidtheim along the Urft with side valleys. The state road L 204 runs not far to the west, the B 258 runs north and the B 51 runs east .

Since 2001, an area of ​​132.0 ha has been designated as a nature reserve for Dahlem under the identification number EU-087. The area was placed under protection in order to preserve and develop the habitat for several animal and plant species endangered according to the Red List in North Rhine-Westphalia .
