The Höddelbachtal nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the town of Schleiden in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends northwest of the core town of Schleiden and south of the Schleiden district of Herhahn along the Höddelbach, a left tributary of the Olef . The state road L 207 runs along the north-western and eastern edge of the area, and the B 265 runs to the east .

An area of 134.58 hectares has been designated as a nature reserve for Schleiden since 1994 under the identification number EU-049. The protection is placed to preserve the habitat for a particularly large number of plant and animal species endangered according to the Red List in North Rhine-Westphalia .
