The nature reserve Wolferter Bachtal and tributaries lies in the area of ​​the municipality of Hellenthal in the district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area, which consists of three sub-areas, extends south-east of the core town of Hellenthal and the Hellenthal district of Oberreifferscheid along the state road L 17 and the Wolferter Baches. This is a left upper course of the Reifferscheider brook (to the Olef ) to the Hellenthaler district Wiesen . The L 22 runs north of the area and the L 110 runs south.

Since 2005, a 131.35 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Hellenthal under the identification number EU-144. The area was placed under protection in order to preserve the habitat for endangered, threatened and rare animal and plant species according to the Red List in North Rhine-Westphalia .
