The Weyrer Wald and Hahnenberg nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Mechernich in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area extends southwest of the core city of Mechernich and west of the Mechernich district of Weyer . The state road L 206 runs to the west and the southern edge, to the east the B 477 and the A 1 run .

For Mechernich, an area of 313,405 ha has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number EU-025 since 2003 . The protection is placed in particular for the conservation and development of habitats and animal and plant species of community interest.
