The nature reserve Kyllquellgebiet lies in the area of ​​the municipality Hellenthal in the district Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area, which consists of three sub-areas, extends southwest of the core town of Hellenthal, south of the Hellenthal district of Udenbreth and northeast of Losheimergraben , a settlement on the German- Belgian border that lies in the area of ​​the German municipality of Hellenthal and the Belgian municipality of Büllingen in the Eifel . The B 265 and the border with Belgium runs to the west, the state road L 110 runs to the north. The Kyll flows to the east and the Our to the south-west . The state border with Rhineland-Palatinate runs along the southeastern edge of the area .

Since 2005, a 109.09 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Hellenthal under the identification number EU-146. The area was placed under protection because of the importance of the area for the establishment of a coherent ecological network of special protection areas in Europe.
