Observation tower

In the immediate vicinity there has been a 30 m high wooden observation tower since 1973, which offered a good view of the surrounding area, of the Schneifel , the Hohe Acht , the Aremberg , the Michelsberg , the Nürburg and the Steling . Due to safety deficiencies on the rotten wooden tower (including the load-bearing parts and the stairs), it had to be demolished in November 2011, the maintenance and renovation costs of 120,000 euros were no longer bearable. In July 2013, the council of the community of Hellenthal decided with a narrow majority that a new tower should be built. A development association should support the new building. This tower with a height of 29.5 m was opened in November 2014. It cost about 430,000 euros; The LEADER region carried 190,000 of them . An almost 30 m high climbing wall for outdoor climbers will soon be installed on one side of the tower. Next to the tower there is a barbecue hut and a playground.

Traffic and walking

The federal highway 265 , which connects Hellenthal in the north with Prüm in the south, runs over the White Stone directly on the state border . From this junction, the White Stone rock in the moor can be reached (approx. 700 m on foot). A few meters south of the summit is the Weißer Stein car park near the B 265 .
