description
Tributaries of the Warche are the Holzwarche, the Bayehon, the Trôs Maret and the Warchenne.
Below the Wirtzfelder Mühlenberg, the Warche and Holzwarche flow together in the Bütgenbach dam . The new Warche Tour hiking trail was opened between the Bütgenbach and Robertville reservoirs . Behind the Robertville dam, it passes in a narrow valley below Reinhardstein Castle . The 60 meter high waterfall mentioned in many publications plunges into the Warche here. Shortly afterwards the Bayehon flows into it. A few hundred meters up Bayehon, at the confluence of the Pouhon and Rognay rivers, there is a Celtic refugee castle ( Tchession ) on a ledge. Down the Warche comes the Bévercé hydroelectric power station. The pressure equalization tower, which can be seen from afar, rises over the Warchetal a hundred meters above the valley. In a pressure tunnel and a pressure pipe, the water from the Robertville dam is directed up to this tower. It then falls around a hundred meters in pressure pipes to the power plant. With Malmedy , the Warche then reaches the largest town on its course. From the 15th century the cloth makers used the warche water. The tanneries were added in the 16th century, and paper production was established by the abbey in 1713 . In Malmedy, right next to the hospital, the Warchenne flows into the Warche when coming from Weismes . In the area of the motorway bridge over the Amel valley, the Warche flows into the Amel after 40 kilometers of river near the hamlet of the same name. The mouth is located directly below the motorway viaduct.
The name Warche is of Celtic origin.
