The Prether Bach is an approximately 10.2 km long, southern and orographically right tributary of the Platissbach in the area of the municipality of Hellenthal .
course
The Prether Bach rises as a Schwalenbach in the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park in the North Eifel , naturally on the Hollerath plateau . The source is about 1000 m southwest of the village of Schnorrenberg , 1.6 km southeast of the village of Schwalenbach and 5 km east of the Belgian border at about 641.5 m above sea level. Above sea level.
The Schwalenbach flows northwest to near the village of Miescheid . After about 3 km it takes the Wurfbach from the left , and after a further 1000 m flowing stretch the Missebach from the left . From there on the flowing water is called Prether Bach . From then on, the Prether Bach, which including its source arm Schwalenbach runs almost exclusively in the nature reserve Prether Bachtal and tributaries , flows in northern directions. It receives further tributaries from both sides, flows through Oberpreth and Unterpreth and passes numerous other districts of Hellenthal.
Then opens the Prether bei Platiß to about 422 m height in the coming therein from the west Olef influx Platißbach .
Catchment area and tributaries
The catchment area of the Prether Bach is 24.893 km² and drains into the North Sea via Platißbach, Olef, Urft, Rur, Maas and Hollands Diep.
