Lajos Maszlay (born October 2, 1903 in Budapest , † December 1, 1979 there ) was a Hungarian fencer .
successes
Lajos Maszlay won six medals in team competitions at world championships. With the foil team he secured bronze medals in Budapest in 1933 , in Lausanne in 1935 and in Brussels in 1953 , while he was world champion with the saber team in 1933, 1935 and 1937 in Paris . He took part in the Olympic Games three times . In 1936 he did not win a medal. At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 he reached the final round in singles, which he completed with 4-3 wins on the bronze rank behind Jéhan Buhan and Christian d'Oriola . With the team he was fifth. Four years later in Helsinki he made it to the podium , this time with the team . In the final round, the team lost to France and Italy , thanks to a victory against Egypt , the Hungarian team finally came third. In the singles Maszlay was eliminated in the semifinals.
