St. Pantaleon is a Roman Catholic parish church in Satzvey , a district of Mechernich in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It belongs to the Veytal Catholic pastoral care area.

history

The church , consecrated to the holy martyr Pantaleon , was first mentioned in a document in 1266 as the property of the Münstereifel monastery . Of the original Romanesque church, only the west tower , which dates from the first half of the 13th century, has been preserved. The church is located immediately north of Satzvey Castle , whose masters had the right of patronage over the church at the end of the 18th century . The medieval nave was replaced in 1806/07 by an unadorned brick building closed on three sides. In 1861 a porch was added to the tower.
