Zülpichgau
The Zülpichgau was a medieval county with Zülpich and its Carolingian royal court as the center. It is one of the counties that became the core of the Ezzone .
With the extinction of the Ezzone in the middle of the 11th century, the otherwise customary transformation of counties into hereditary counties for the Zülpichgau was canceled. He was caught in the fire between the Count of Jülich and the Archbishop of Cologne , both of whom had the goal of gaining supremacy on the Erft . From the end of the 12th century, the archbishop was victorious. In 1379 Zülpich and its surrounding area finally came into ecclesiastical possession. In the 14./15.
