Life

Martin Trumler, his father, epitaph detail, cartouche with Freemason mark , 1705

Maximilian, was only born after the father's death. His parents were master stonemason Martin Trumler († March 20, 1705) and Maria Elisabetha , daughter of the court master stonemason Ambrosius Ferrethi , now widow , godfather of master Johann Wieser . The craft regulations authorized the widow to continue the trade as a master craftsman for a year. Then she had to marry a stonemason, journeyman or master.

By marrying his mother, an "Italian", with the journeyman Elias Hügel from Gemünden am Main in Franconia on November 14, 1706 in the Kaisersteinbruch Church , Maximilian and his older siblings received a very young stepfather. His eldest brother Franz was 20 years old, the new stepfather just 25. Italian-German problems were inevitable.

Apprenticeship

Maximilian learned the stonemason trade from master Simon Sasslaber , an uncle by marriage, and was acquitted as a journeyman in front of the open drawer in 1724. Work was in full swing in the quarries of his teacher, for the garden palace of Prince Eugene , for the imperial church in Vienna, and for the new high altar of the local church .

After the mother stepped down on September 5, 1728, settlement negotiations took place between Mr. Elias Hügel, master stonemason and judge in Kaisersteinbruch, and his four stepchildren. They were Maria Regina Synnin, née Trumlerin , resident in Himberg , Franz, Ambrosius, residing in Vienna and Maximilian, journeyman stonemason. Each received 1,500  florins as maternal inheritance .

In 1730 Maximilian, as a subject of the Heiligenkreuz Abbey, spent the amount of 2,030 florins "out of the country" and had to pay departure money for the guilder 6 Kreuzer to the administration at Königshof , in this case 203 florins.

Marriage in Vienna

In Vienna he married Catharina Agnes N. and there son Martin was born. Anastasia Sasslaberin, a Ferrethi daughter and sister of his mother, had remained childless, so she "sold" parts of her property to the young couple on May 31, 1735 on the occasion of their marriage and the birth of a son. With a house, barn, orchard, half a quarry and a quarter quarry, they were registered in the Kaisersteinbruch land register.

Problems between Italian and German stonemasons

In 1738 a violent conflict broke out with subsequent legal proceedings between the Welschen and German stonemasons. (The Italians who settled in the quarry were mostly in the third generation here.) In the court proceedings on July 4, 1740, the innkeeper Balthasar Tetzl truthfully reported that the brothers Franz and Maximilian Trumler had left the Schilcken garden towards the evening on August 19, 1738 Church cellar come. In a verbal battle, Schilck said, I am a German stonemason , both Trumlers answered him that what the Germans had, they knew just as well and better .

In the cellar they coveted half a wine, Maximilian Trumler says that the German stonemasons are with Respekht , Huntsfiter , Spitzburben and Scheiskehrln, and everyone is Hallunkh like the other, no one excepted . Then Franz Trumler said to him, you are right, Pruetter, and this abuse lasted a whole glockhen hour.

Therefore from Your High Countess Excellency the Countess von Fux , the cheap satisfaction is to be desired because of your subjects .

Note: The summer master stonemasons and masons were part of the quarter drawer at Kaisersteinbruch.
  • because of alienation - with Respect - stolen keys which to craft loading properly, that is had Bubenstück with free announcements and Single jurisdiction of the apprentice , which switched to our honorable craft and been applications received after the craft Articeln be punishing.
  • in the end my so often repeated complaint about the erection of the collapsed wall next to my house, which was so damaging to me, asked to do the condition, but could not obtain anything. As a result, he Trumler the dangerous pouring, of which the largest stones jump down against my house and cellar and run, so that neither I go past with my people, children and servants or other passers-by with the risk of their lives or the risk of a great misfortune.

Therefore, my request to my gracious lordship is to forbid him Trumler from dangerous pouring on punishment, to build the collapsed wall on top of the old foundation wall.

Narrow living space between the quarries

Due to the fact that the houses were very close to the quarries, but above all the very narrow construction prescribed by the Heiligenkreuz monastery as a rule, resulted in a constant space problem. This explains the activity of the bulk disc , which transported the spoil to other locations. This resulted in numerous neighborhood conflicts.
