Urs Rohner (born December 1, 1959 in Zurich ) is a Swiss business lawyer and manager . He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse since 2011 . From 2000 to 2004 he was CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG .

Life

From 1978 to 1983 Rohner studied law at the University of Zurich . He then worked for law firms in Zurich and New York.

From October 2000 to April 30, 2004 he was CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG. Among other things, the merger of ProSieben and Sat.1 to form ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG took place under Rohner's leadership .

As of June 1, 2004, he was appointed Group General Counsel, Head of the Group Corporate Center and a member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse Group . Rohner was Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011, and on April 29, 2011, he took over the full office of Chairman of the Board of Directors from the resigning Hans-Ulrich Doerig at the General Meeting of Credit Suisse Group . In 2020, Rohner stood for the last time for re-election as Chairman of the Board, as he will have a maximum term of 12 years on the Board in 2021. His successor is still open.

From 2005 to 2014 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Zurich Opera House . At the end of November 2013, it was announced that Rohner had become a member of the board of directors of the newly founded lobby organization of UBS and Credit Suisse under the name Swiss Finance Council (SFC), which has a branch in Brussels .

Personal

In 1981 and 1982 Rohner became Swiss champion in the 110 meter hurdles . He is in a relationship with Nadja Schildknecht and has a son with her (* 2008). He has three children from his first marriage.
