Ruth Elkrief (born December 1, 1960 ) is a French television journalist . Since November 2005 she has been working for the private information television station BFM TV in Paris .

biography

Ruth Elkrief is the daughter of Joseph Elkrief and Marie-Louise Rouach. It is related to Shalom Messas (1909–2003), who was chief rabbi in Morocco and later in Jerusalem. In 1974, her parents' family settled in Saint-Cloud , France. Ruth Elkrief is married to the entrepreneur Claude Czechowski and has two daughters.

She is a graduate of the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and the private French journalism school Center de Formation des Journalistes . First she worked for the newspaper Le Matin de Paris . In 1987 she was called by Michèle Cotta to the TV station TF1 , for which she worked as a foreign correspondent in Washington, DC (District of Columbia) in 1990 . In 1991 she took over the leadership of the station's political department and hosted the news program at 11 p.m. on the weekend.

In 1994 she was involved in the introduction of the first specialized information channel La Chaîne Info (LCI), a subsidiary of TF1, where she ran the main journal together with journalist David Pujadas. In September 1999, she introduced the 19h dimanche format at TF1 , a weekly information program with reports and interviews, which replaced Public , a program previously moderated by Michel Field. In September 2000, 19h dimanche was followed by the format Sept à huit by Laurence Ferrari and Thomas Hugues.

In 2001 Ruth Elkrief went to the French radio station RTL to lead the morning programs with interviews with politicians. From 2003 to 2005 she designed the program on French politics Le Grand Jury , introduced in 1980, which was broadcast simultaneously by RTL and LCI.

In 2005 Ruth Elkrief was one of the founders of the private news channel BFM TV , which is owned by the NextRadioTV group . In the first edition of the station's journal, she interviewed Dominique Baudis live on November 28, 2005 , who was then President of the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel CSA ( High Council for Audiovisual Media ). In 2006, she and Hedwige Chevrillon from BFM Business introduced the business information program Le Duo BFM . In 2007, she made special editions on the 2007 presidential election in France with the title Élysée 2007 , where she moderated disputes between politicians in her program at 7 p.m. In 2007 the main journal was named 7 p.m. Ruth Elkrief . Since 2008, together with Hedwige Chevrillon and Olivier Mazerolle, she presented the program La Tribune BFM on Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. and with Stéphanie de Muru and Gilane Barret the new midday program Midi Ruth Elkrief from 12 to 2 p.m. Since 2010 Ruth Elkrief has been on the station again at 7 p.m. with a political discussion program.
