BFM TV (acronym for Business FM ) is a privately owned French 24 hour news and weather channel and television broadcaster based in Paris , France . It emerged from the business radio station of the same name, which will continue to be operated as BFM Business . BFM TV started on November 28, 2005 as a free channel within the TNT program package and is now freely available as a live stream on the Internet. The HD version of BFM TV started on November 17, 2015 on Astra 19.2 degrees east.

The station is run by the Strasbourg media manager Alain Weill and is part of the NextRadioTV group , which also owns the radio stations BFM and Radio Monte Carlo (RMC). NextRadioTV, in turn, has been wholly owned by the Altice Group since 2018 .

The station became known beyond France in April 2007 when it aired a discussion between the presidential candidates Ségolène Royal (PS) and François Bayrou (UDF / Parti Démocrate) after other stations had not agreed to broadcast.

At major events, demonstrations or accidents, BFM TV is always the first on site, which sets it apart from the competition. The station has ten million viewers, earns 77 million euros annually and employs more than 400 people.

Ruth Elkrief is one of the station's leading journalists .
