Jakob Rauch

Jakob Rauch (born March 2, 1881 in Höchst am Main , † December 1, 1956 in Limburg ) was a German Catholic clergyman .

Life

Jakob Rauch was born on March 2nd, 1881 in Höchst am Main as the son of the merchant Julius Rauch and Felicitas Rauch (née Allendorf). From 1890 to 1896 he attended the Progymnasium in his hometown. In 1899 he successfully graduated from high school in Montabaur . He then studied both philosophy and theology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1901/1902 Rauch continued his studies in the seminary in Fulda . After the Introit exam in 1902 he studied at the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin Jura , after which he stayed in the seminary Limburg on. On February 25, 1908, he was ordained a priest there, a week before that he had received his doctorate iuris utriusque .

From 1908 Rauch worked as a chaplain in Geisenheim and Frankfurt am Main . He was appointed cathedral vicar in Limburg in 1910. In 1919/1920 he was also a priest in Camberg . In 1922 he became both cathedral chapter and clergyman . From 1947 to 1951 he was vicar general of the Limburg diocese . In 1948 the Pope awarded him the title of Papal Honorary Prelate and in 1953 an Apostolic Protonotary . In 1949 he became dean of the cathedral . On December 1, 1956, he succumbed to a myocardial infarction in Limburg .
