The Episcopal Seminary in Fulda is the training center of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fulda for candidates for priesthood who do not belong to any order . Dirk Gärtner has been rainy since August 1, 2014.

The priestly training takes place in addition to the study of Catholic theology at the Theological Faculty Fulda and aims to ensure areas of priestly training that are not the subject of scientific theology.

The seminar is housed in the buildings of the former Fulda Monastery , directly adjacent to the Fulda Cathedral .

history

In 748, St. Sturmius established the first training center for priests in the city of Fulda . One can only speak of the actual seminary from around 1572, when a seminary was founded in accordance with the intention of the Council of Trent .

The autumn general assembly of the German Bishops' Conference always takes place in the seminary in Fulda - near the grave of St. Boniface - while the location of the spring general assembly changes annually.
