The International Seminary St. Petrus in Wigratzbad is a supra-diocesan seminary to which Catholic men are sent by a diocesan bishop or religious superior to be trained for the priesthood . The majority of the seminarians are members of the Society of St. Peter , which is also the sponsor of the seminary.

In 1988 the seminary was established. The founders were previously members of the Society of St. Pius X , who did not want to support the controversial episcopal ordinations that took place in that year by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre . From 2010 to 2011 the seminar was expanded to include an extension. The institution is run by the Society of St. Peter, as an ancient ritual community , it is subordinate to the Ecclesia Dei Pontifical Commission .
