The St. Lambert diocesan college is the Roman Catholic seminary with the largest number of students in Germany . At the moment (October 2019) 23 candidates for priesthood from German dioceses and religious orders are studying there .

The seminar is located in the Lantershofen district of the Grafschaft (Rhineland) community near Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler .

The Studienhaus St. Lambert is a seminar for people who have come to work later. Here study men who had another profession before they decided to become priests of the Roman Catholic Church .

Formal requirements for admission to the Studienhaus St. Lambert are completed vocational training , several years of professional experience, membership in the Roman Catholic Church and the age of 25. In addition, it is not possible to enroll directly in the St. Lambert Study House. The students are usually sent to Lantershofen to study by their home dioceses or religious orders.

Life in the study house is mainly characterized by studying philosophy and theology with the subjects of biblical theology, historical theology (i.e. church history ), systematic theology and practical theology . But also the daily celebration of the Eucharist , the communitarian community, common divine services , devotions and praying the book of hours are part of everyday seminar life .

This course extends over four years, each divided into three trimesters . At the end there is an ecclesiastically recognized qualification, which is one of the admission requirements for further training in the pastoral course of the home diocese or religious order. Further studies are possible.

Alternative to Lantershofen

In Germany that's Study House St. Lambert unique in its structure. It is legitimized in legal-historical terms by the Reich Concordat of 1933.
