Robert Brahm (born August 25, 1956 in Oberwesel ) is auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Trier .

Life

Born and raised in Oberwesel , Robert Brahm, after studying Catholic theology and philosophy and being ordained a deacon, initially worked in the parish of St. Blasius and Martinus in Saarwellingen . On 14 July 1984 he received in Trier the priesthood . Then he was initially a chaplain in Bad Kreuznach and from 1986 regional youth pastor in Neuwied .

In 1991 Brahm was appointed Diocesan President of the Kolping Youth of the Diocese of Trier. At the same time he became sub-rain of the seminary at St. Lambert's seminary in Lantershofen and pastor in neighboring Karweiler . On August 1, 2000, he was appointed to the Ordinariatsrat in the Trier General Vicariate , where he worked as a representative for the deacons . On November 16 of the same year he was also appointed cathedral vicar . Since September 1, 2002, he has also been responsible for the priesthood of the diocese.

On 9 December 2003 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Mimiana and Auxiliary Bishop in Trier. He received his episcopal ordination on February 8, 2004 in Trier Cathedral from Trier Bishop Reinhard Marx ; Co-consecrators were former bishop Hermann Josef Spital and auxiliary bishop Leo Schwarz .

On February 20 of the same year Robert Brahm was appointed Cathedral Chapter of the Trier Cathedral Chapter and on December 17, Reinhard Marx appointed him Episcopal Vicar for the Saarbrücken visitation district .

After Reinhard Marx took over the office of Archbishop of Munich and Freising on February 2, 2008 , Robert Brahm was elected diocesan administrator of the Diocese of Trier by the Trier Cathedral Chapter on February 5 of the same year for the period of the resulting vacancy .

Robert Brahm is a member of the Commission for Spiritual Professions and Church Services and the Journalism Commission of the German Bishops' Conference .

Coat of arms and motto

The semicircular, split and half-divided shield shows a red cross, the diocese coat of arms of Trier, on a white / silver background. In the back, a black eagle on a golden background, the coat of arms of his hometown Oberwesel and a white / silver book on a red background (attribute of St. Robert Bellarmin , his patron saint). Behind the shield is the bishop's cross, above it the green galero (bishop's hat ) with the six green tassels (fiocchi) hanging down.

His motto is: VERBUM CHRISTI VOBISCUM (“The word of Christ be with you”) and is taken from Colossians ( Col 3:16  EU ).
