Taylor Nicole Smith (born December 1, 1993 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American soccer player who has been under contract with Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League since the 2019 season .
Career
society
While studying at the University of California, Los Angeles , Smith played for the UCLA Bruins university team from 2012 to 2015 . In 2014 she played at the same time in five league games for the W-League participant Los Angeles Blues , who at the end of the season won the championship final against the Washington Spirit Reserves 6-1. In the course of the NWSL's college draft in January 2016 , Smith was initially disregarded, but was able to recommend himself in trial training for a contract with the Western New York Flash . She made her NWSL debut on April 23, 2016 in a 1-0 loss to the Chicago Red Stars as a substitute for Adriana Leon . After the dissolution of Western New York Flash after the 2016 season, she and most of her teammates moved to the newly founded franchise of North Carolina Courage , with which she finished first in the table at the end of the season, but lost 1-0 to Portland Thorns FC in the championship final .
For the 2018 season she switched to the Washington Spirit franchise together with her teammate Ashley Hatch .
National team
Smith played seven games for the United States under-23 from 2015 to 2016 . In January 2017 she was appointed to the senior team for the first time and made her debut there as part of the Tournament of Nations on July 27 in a 1-0 defeat by the Australian national team.
