Michelle Betos (born February 20, 1988 in New York City , New York ) is an American football goalkeeper .
Career
In the summer of 2006, and again in 2009 and 2010 after graduating from the University of Georgia , Betos played for the W-League participants Long Island Fury and the Atlanta Silverbacks . After a trip to the Argentine club River Plate , she joined the New York Fury franchise in the WPSL Elite for the 2012 season . From 2012 to 2013 Betos played for the Cypriot Champions League participant Apollon Limassol .
In early 2013, she was committed to the NWSL - Supplemental Draft in the fifth round at position 34 by Seattle Reign FC . She made her league debut on April 14, 2013 against the Chicago Red Stars as a substitute for national goalkeeper Hope Solo, who was injured at the start of the season . After the end of the NWSL season, Betos moved to Limassol for a few months on loan and joined Portland Thorns FC on their return to the USA . With Portland she reached the playoffs as a substitute goalkeeper for Nadine Angerer , but failed in the semifinals at eventual champions FC Kansas City .
On June 19, 2015 Betos headed the game against FC Kansas City to equalize 1-1 in the fifth minute of stoppage time. This makes her the first goalkeeper in NWSL history to score.
At the beginning of 2017 Betos moved to the Norwegian first division club Vålerenga Oslo .
