Francisco José Rodrigues Costa , commonly known as Costinha [ kɔʃˈtiɲɐ ] (born December 1, 1974 in Lisbon ) is a former Portuguese football player .
Career
society
The defensive midfielder has played for numerous well-known international clubs. He made his breakthrough abroad with the French Ligue 1 representative AS Monaco . With them he became French football champion in 2000 . He then moved back home to FC Porto . There he celebrated his greatest success to date by winning the World Cup , the Champions League , the UEFA Cup and other national titles. In the summer of 2005 he moved to the Russian club Dynamo Moscow for a fee of four million euros . After disagreements with the board of directors, he was suspended in February 2006. The following season he signed for Atlético Madrid , but was never really able to gain a foothold in Spain . A year later, at the end of the transfer period, he moved to Serie A in Italy . But even there he had only one league appearance for Atalanta Bergamo in his first season . In the next two seasons he came to no further game for Atalanta and in February 2010 an amicable termination of the contract was agreed. The Portuguese ended his career and a few days later became the new sports director at Sporting Lisbon .
National team
With the national team he came to the EM 2000 , at the EM 2004 in his own country, where he was runner-up European champion, and at the 2006 World Cup .
