Petra custom
Petra Sitte (born December 1, 1960 in Dresden ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2013 to 2017 she was the first parliamentary director of the left-wing parliamentary group in the German Bundestag .
Life
education and profession
After graduating from high school in 1979, Petra Sitte completed a degree in economics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , which she completed in 1983 as a graduate economist . After a subsequent research studies and working as an assistant at the Martin Luther University in 1987, when its done promotion for Dr. oec. with the work The management activity of the SED district organization Halle in the further development of the socialist production conditions in industry and the formation of the combines (sixties and seventies) . Then she was the second secretary of the FDJ district leadership at Martin Luther University until 1989 and then an aspirant from 1990 to 1991 .
Political party
Sitte joined the SED in 1981 . From 1997 to 2002 she was a member of the PDS federal executive committee.

From May to December 1990 she belonged to the city council of Halle and was also the chairman of the PDS parliamentary group. From 2004 to 2014 she was again on the city council of Halle.
From 1990 to 2005 she was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . Here she was chairman of the PDS parliamentary group until June 2004 .
She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2005 . Here she is deputy chairwoman of the parliamentary group Die Linke, member and chairwoman of the committee for education, research and technology assessment and chairwoman of the group's working group on innovation, education, science, culture and media. From 2010 to 2013 she was a member of the Internet and Digital Society Enquete Commission .
Petra Sitte entered the Bundestag in 2005 via the Saxony-Anhalt state list . Her constituency is Halle , where she won a direct mandate in 2009 with 33.7% of the vote . In 2013 it was defeated by Christoph Bergner (CDU).

Petra Sitte has been a member of the board of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung since 2012 and is also a member of the board of trustees of the Reading Foundation . Petra Sitte has been a member of the Senate of the Deutsche Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft Konrad Zuse since 2015 .
