Jörg-Otto Spiller

Jörg-Otto Spiller (born May 14, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1999 to 2008 he was the financial policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

education and profession

After graduating from the French grammar school in Berlin in 1961 , Spiller studied history and political science at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Tübingen , which he graduated in 1966 with a degree in political science . He then worked as a research assistant at the Otto Suhr Institute at the Free University of Berlin until 1973 . From 1974 to 1985 he worked in the economics department of Berliner Bank AG . Spiller is married and has two children.

politics

Spiller has been a member of the SPD since 1964 and has been a member of the SPD district executive in Wedding since 1970 . From 1986 to 1994 he was the district mayor of the then Berlin-Wedding district . From 1981 to 1985 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . From 1994 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag . There he was a member of the executive committee of the SPD parliamentary group since 1999. From 1999 to 2008 he was also the spokesman for the parliamentary group's working group on finance . Spiller entered the Bundestag in 1994 and 1998 as a directly elected member of the Berlin-Tiergarten - Wedding - Charlottenburg-Nord constituency and then always as a directly elected member of the Berlin-Mitte constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 41.9% of the first votes .

For the Bundestag election on September 27, 2009 , he decided not to run again, so that he resigned from parliament at the constituent session of the 17th German Bundestag on October 27, 2009.
