Jo Wegener
Jo Wegener (born December 1, 1915 in Hamburg ; † April 1995 there ) was a German actress , radio play and voice actor .
Life
After studying acting in Hamburg, Jo Wegener made her debut at the Staatstheater Oldenburg , later she played on stages in Braunschweig, Magdeburg and Stettin. After the end of the Second World War she came back to her native city, where she appeared on various stages. In 1952 she stood next to Hilde Krahl in the play Johnny Belinda on the stage of the Hamburger Kammerspiele , in 1955 she appeared at the Theater im Zimmer , and in 1969 in the play Madame de Sade by Mishima Yukio , directed by Christoph Roethel .
Only in the 1950s and 1970s did Jo Wegener occasionally work in front of the camera. Among other things, she was seen in an episode of the Hamburg Transit series and in two Tatort episodes. As a voice actress, for example, she lent Irene Tedrow in the Columbo episode Snapshot for Eternity, her voice, in the series Catweazle she was the German voice of Gwen Nelson as Mrs. Gowdie .
Jo Wegener has also worked extensively for radio. Since 1948 she has been involved in almost 200 productions, mainly for North West German and later North German Radio , several times in the series The Court Withdraws for Advice and The Hunt for the Perpetrator .
In 1991, Jo Wegener published a book with stories and poems under the title Mein Sammelsurium .
