Börtewitz is a district of the city of Leisnig in the district of central Saxony . In 1938 Großpelsen were incorporated with Kleinpelsen. In 1950 the place had 682 inhabitants. On March 1, 1991 there was a union with Bockelwitz , with this it came to Leisnig in 2012.

history

The village of Börtewitz is of Sorbian origin, recognizable by the fact that it still had to deliver wax grain to the Tragnitz Vorwerk in 1403, a levy that all villages that were created before the formation of the Burgwards Leisnig had to pay. Börtewitz was initially parish after the Matthäi-Kirche Leisnig. In 1268 Cecilia, widow of Thammo von Mahris, built a church, where she compensated the pastor of St. Matthäi with purchased income. Together with her sons she received the right of patronage over the church. In 1286 the church was assigned to the church in Altleisnig. In 1297, Cecilia von Mahris transferred the patronage to the Buch monastery, since her sons had already died so that no outsider would come to the parish. In the following years Börtewitz remained a branch church of Altleisnig, so it did not have its own pastor. After the Reformation she was assigned to Bockelwitz. A description of the structure can be found in Gurlitt and Dehio.

Between 1213 and 1361, Lords of Börtewitz are named as witnesses in 41 documents of the Burgraves of Leisnig. They were ministerials to the burgraves and are called miles, militaris, castrensis or castellanus . The location of the manor is unknown, the corresponding map of the first survey of Saxony by Matthias Oeder (1586–1607), completed by Balthasar Zimmermann, still shows an outbuilding in Börtewitz. A short outline of the further history of the manor can be found in the album of the manor.

In 1378 Börtewitz had 26 bushels of grain and the same in oats, plus a kitchen beef, to deliver to the castrum Leisnig.

According to the Leisnig district inheritance book of 1548, 11 possessed men with 13.5 hooves belonged to Börtewitz , the higher and inheritance courts belong to the office, the fiefdoms belong to the monastery (office) Sornzig .

The Börtewitz schoolmasters from the Reformation to 1750 can be found in the Leisnig Chronicle. This source is also used by the Saxon Church Gallery, which lists other events and anecdotes about the story.
