history

The village of Großpelsen is of Sorbian origin, recognizable by the fact that it still had to deliver wax grain to the Tragnitz Vorwerk in 1403, a levy that all villages that were created before the formation of the Burgwards Leisnig had to deliver.

In 1231, Emperor Friedrich II confirmed his possession to the Buch monastery, including the goods located near Polkenberg ( prope Polex ), called Bylsin , which Heinrich von Chorun bought from Frau Irmgard and her sons, Reichsministerials Friedrich and Heinrich, and transferred to the monastery would have. In 1306 the village was referred to the parish church in Bockelwitz. 1319 transferred Bgf. Albero von Leisnig the village with the allod at the Buch monastery. Nothing is said about an abandonment, so it is probably a donation. In 1378 Großpelsen had 27 bushels of grain and the same in oats to deliver to the castrum Leisnig. In 1548, the official inheritance book of the Buch monastery in Großpelsen names “9 possessed men, including 5 horse men, all of whom can be borrowed and paid for to the Buch monastery” with 17 hooves. The inheritance court was at the monastery office, the higher court at the Leisnig office.

The place was initially parish after the Matthäi-Kirche Leisnig, since 1286 to Altleisnig , since 1306 to Bockelwitz .
