Görnitz is a district of the city of Leisnig in the district of central Saxony . In 1946 the place had 277 inhabitants. In 1936 Zeschwitz was incorporated. On July 1, 1950, the place was incorporated into Polkenberg , came with it to Bockelwitz in 1999 and to Leisnig in 2012.

history

The village of Görnitz is of Sorbian origin, recognizable by the fact that it had to deliver Wachkorn to the Tragnitz Vorwerk in 1403, a levy that all villages that arose before the formation of the Burgwards Leisnig had to pay.

The place was first mentioned in 1274 when ownership was transferred to Sornzig Monastery . In 1289 the knight Heinrich von Colditz sold a hoof in Gornyzc to the Buch monastery . In 1378 Görnitz had 24 bushels of grain and the same in oats a year, plus a kitchen cattle, to deliver to the castrum Leisnig. In 1548, the official inheritance book of Buch zu Görnitz monastery names “8 possessed men, 6 of which are leasable and interestable for Buch monastery and 2 for Sornzig monastery, including 4 horses,” with 12 hooves. The higher court was with the Leisnig office, the inheritance court with the landlords.

The place was initially parish to St. Matthäi in Leisnig , came in 1286 to the church Altleisnig and after the Reformation to the church of Tragnitz .
