Veikko Onni Juhani Aaltonen (born December 1, 1955 in Sääksmäki , Finland ) is a Finnish director , film editor , editor , sound engineer , production manager, and film and television writer and actor.

Career

Aaltonen began his career in the mid- 1970s as a sound engineer in many different films. The high point of his young career was the collaboration with Rauni Mollberg . He co-wrote two of his films, Milka ( 1980 ) and The Unknown Soldier ( 1985 ). He also worked as a film editor in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. As such, he was also involved in the film Crime and Punishment (1983).

In 1987 Aaltonen directed his first feature film, Tilinteko , which he co-wrote alongside Aki Kaurismäki , who also produced the film. Five years later, a film was made under his direction that is considered to be its real highlight: The Prodigal Son ( 1992 ).

Aaltonen has also made documentaries and directed television series.
