Marlis Heide Schmidt
Marlis Heide Schmidt (born December 1, 1943 in Samter as Marlis Heide Crome, † February 24, 1996 in Leipzig ) was a translation scholar at the Leipzig School .
Live and act
After training as a skilled worker to become an assistant locksmith, Schmidt studied interpreting and translation at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig from 1963 to 1967 . She completed her studies with a diploma thesis on the subject of grammatical and stylistic definition of the Russian advertisement . She then worked as a research assistant and senior research assistant in Leipzig and received her doctorate in 1973 with a thesis on text content, style and translation . From 1982 to 1985 and from 1988 onwards she was head of the scientific department Russian translation studies in the TAS section (theoretical and applied linguistics) at the University of Leipzig . 1984–1989 Schmidt worked as a university lecturer in Leipzig before she was appointed full professor . From 1991 to 1996 she was professor of old law at the University of Leipzig.
