Bryan Bouffier (born December 1, 1978 in Die ) is a French rally driver .

Career

Bryan Bouffier is the son of former rally driver Philippe Bouffier . In 1999, he ended his rally career and helped his son get into motorsport. That same year, Bryan Bouffier took a Renault Clio the Group N attend his first two regional rallies. As a finalist in a driver's assessment of the French motorsport association FFSA , he was allowed to contest his first season in the brand cup Volant Peugeot 206 in 2000 , which he finally won in 2002.

In 2003 Bouffier became a works driver for Peugeot Sport and took part in the French rally championship for three years with a Peugeot 206 S1600 . In 2003 it came fourth in the Super 1600 vehicle category. In 2004 came eighth place overall. In 2005 he improved to third place in the championship, making him the best driver with a Super 1600 car.

In 2006 Bouffier started his first season in international rallying. With a Peugeot 206 S1600 from Peugeot Sport España, he drove several rallies in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the European Rally Championship . After initial difficulties, he achieved success towards the end of the season when he first finished the Barum Czech Rally Zlín in third place and then won the Antibes Cote d'Azur Rally . Bouffier finished the season in fifth place in the European Championship.

In 2007 Bouffier took part in a round of the World Rally Championship for the first time in a Citroën C2 R2 at the Rally Sardinia . He then contested most of the season in the Polish rally championship , in which he drove a Peugeot 207 S2000 from Peugeot Sport Polska . There he won four out of six rallies and took the championship title. In 2008 Bouffier was victorious in five rallies of the Polish championship and he managed to defend his title. His team also used him in two rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. He finished third in the Barum Czech Rally Zlín and fourth in the Rallye International du Valais .

After Peugeot Sport Polska ended its rally program, Bouffier switched to the Malkom Rally Team in 2009 , which provided him with a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX . He achieved a victory in the Polish championship and won his third championship title in a row with a narrow point advantage. He also started again at the Barum Czech Rally Zlín with a Proton Satria Neo S2000 .

Bouffier began the 2010 season with a drive in the Subaru Impreza WRX STI from Tommi Mäkinen Racing at the 2010 Monte Carlo Rally . He then drove a Peugeot 207 S2000 mainly in the French rally championship. With three wins and three more podium finishes, he narrowly prevailed again in the battle for the title and won the French championship. He also took part in individual rallies of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on a Peugeot, but was unsuccessful.

In 2011 Bouffier contested a full season in the IRC for the first time with a Peugeot 207 S2000 from Peugeot Sport . At the season opener, the 2011 Monte Carlo Rally , he chose winter tires in contrast to most of his competitors when snow was threatening. After the onset of snowfall, he drove faster times and took the overall lead, which he defended until the end. At the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally, he achieved his first victory in a run of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. He achieved further podium places with a second place at Yalta and third places in Sanremo and Scotland . At the end of the year it was ranked 6th on the IRC Closing Event.

In 2012 he again contested a few races at the IRC, but he also competed in rallies for the French Asphalt Championship. He was not very successful in both competitions this year and ended up outside the top ten in the overall ratings of the competitions. His biggest success this year was a 3rd place in the Azores Rally, which is part of the IRC.

In 2013, Bouffier mainly competed in the European Rally Championship (ERC) with a rented Peugeot 207 S2000 as well as in selected rallies in the World Rally Championship, where he achieved 5th place in the Monte Carlo Rally with a Citroën DS3 WRC. In the overall standings of the European Rally Championship he achieved 2nd place behind the Czech Jan Kopecky with a victory in the Corsica Rally and several other top placements. In addition, he started in some races for the Polish state championship with a Peugeot 208 R2 in the classification of two-wheel-drive vehicles.
