Reports

Day 1 (Friday, August 24th)

On the first morning of the Rally Germany, Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) drove away from the competition. The first pursuer was Petter Solberg , who was 13.1 seconds behind after three special stages. In the afternoon, Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford) put pressure on and overtook team-mate Solberg. In fourth place was Thierry Neuville (Citroën), who lost some time because of Martin Prokop (Ford )’s car on fire . Neuville missed a turn. Prokop's car burned out completely.

Day 2 (Saturday, August 25)

Latvala and Loeb fought thrilling duels on the special stages “Arena Panzerplatte 1 and 2”. Loeb won both special stages but Latvala was always close on the heels of the world champion in these stages. Latvala, however, was already over 1.30 minutes behind in the overall standings. Solberg, in 2nd place until then, slipped off the track, which resulted in a broken rear wheel and a failure. Ott Tänak (Ford) won the 10th – 11th Special stage and was in ninth place in the overall classification.

3rd day (Sunday, August 26th)

Sébastien Loeb drove towards a certain victory on Sunday and also won the last special stage at the Circus Maximus in Trier . Overall, Loeb won the Rally Germany for the ninth time and took another step towards defending the title. Quote Loeb: "It was an almost perfect weekend and it wasn't easy to avoid mistakes."
