Reports

Day 1 (Friday, November 9th)

After the first day, Mads Østberg (Ford) led the Rally Catalonia. Due to heavy rain, there were a lot of turneries, including Jari-Matti Latvala and Ott Tänak . For Thierry Neuville (Citroën) and Petter Solberg (Ford) the day was over after the second special stage. Both hit a stone and the suspension broke. Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) won the fifth special stage, improved to second overall and took up the pursuit of Østberg. Evgeny Novikov (Ford) won the fourth special stage, put his vehicle into the ditch in special stage 5 and lost time again. Østberg stayed as the overall leader with a 27.2 second lead over Loeb, followed by Latvala and Hirvonen.

Day 2 (Saturday, November 10th)

After two slips and the wrong tire choice by Østberg, Loeb took the lead from Latvala. In the ninth special stage, Loeb pulled away despite the muddy roads after heavy rain . Loeb was in the lead, 27 seconds ahead of Latvala and 47 seconds over team-mate Hirvonen.

Day 3 (Sunday, November 11th)

Sébastien Loeb closed his last full WRC season with a win. Jari-Matti Latvala followed, seven seconds back. Third place went to Mikko Hirvonen , who became vice world champion. Latvala, third in the world championship and best Ford driver, lost 116 world championship points on Loeb.
