The 60th Rally Sweden was held from February 9th to 12th, 2012. A total of 24 special stages were run on snow and ice.

Reports

Day 1 (Thursday, February 9th)

The 2013 Rally Sweden began in Karlstad with a 1.9 kilometer special stage . Dani Sordo (MINI) was the fastest ahead of Mads Østberg (Ford) and Ott Tänak (Ford). The intervals were in the tenths of a second range.

Day 2 (Friday, February 10th)

Ford works driver Jari-Matti Latvala took the lead after the fourth special stage, ahead of Petter Solberg (Ford). Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) received a ten-second penalty for leaving the service park too late that morning. On the 20.17 kilometer SS 3 Loeb drove the fastest. Mikko Hirvonen (Citroën) set the fastest time on SS 4 and 5 and overtook Latvala. In the seventh special stage, Loeb got off the road and got stuck in a snow bank. In doing so, he lost around two minutes on the leaders. Up to SS 10 Latvala prevailed against Hirvonen (+16.8 seconds) and stayed as the leader. Hirvonen lost some time and came under pressure from Solberg, who was only 1.8 seconds behind him.

3rd day (Saturday, February 11th)

Latvala also ended Saturday as the leader in the overall standings and keeps Hirvonen at a distance. Loeb's race to catch up ended with a spin that continued to cost the world champion time. At the end of the day he was sixth, almost 3 minutes behind, as he had a puncture in the afternoon.

4th day (Sunday, February 12th)

After the first special stages on Sunday, Latvala was able to extend the lead to Hirvonen. Mads Østberg was consistently faster than Solberg and he was getting closer and closer to third place. Loeb could not shorten the gap to Evgeny Novikov in front and stayed in sixth place. Latvala and his team-mate Solberg had a puncture in the 22nd special stage. Latvala was still able to win the rally, while Solberg slipped from the podium to fourth place. Østberg was classified in third place, Loeb remained in sixth place.
