The FIA - World Rally Championship in 2009 was on January 30 in Ireland started and ended on 25 October in the UK . A total of 12 world championship races were held on three continents. For the sixth time in a row, Sébastien Loeb became world driver champion with co-driver Daniel Elena . The Citroën Total World Rally Team won the Manufacturers' World Championship for the fifth time .
