Armindo Araújo (born September 1, 1977 in Vila das Aves ) is a Portuguese rally driver . In the 2011 season he competed in the World Rally Championship with a Mini Countryman S2000 and later with a Mini WRC .

Career

Araújo has been active in motorcycle racing since 1994 and switched to rallying in 2000. The first four years he started in a Citroën Saxo Kit Car , in which he won the championship in the class up to 1600 cc in 2002. In 2003 and 2004 he was twice Portuguese rally champion with this vehicle. In 2005 and 2006 he repeated this success in a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IIIX .

He contested his first world championship run in 2001 at his home rally in Portugal. Armindo Araújo started in the Production World Rally Championship (PWRC) from the 2007 World Rally Championship . He contested a total of 23 rallies in this class and achieved four wins, eleven podium places and 192 points. In 2007 he was fourteenth of the PWRC, in 2008 he was eighth and in 2009 and 2010 he won the title of the PWRC championship.

At the 2010 Rally Mexico he scored his first point in the overall ranking of the World Rally Championship with a tenth place.

Since the 2011 Rally Portugal, he has participated in eight races of the World Rally Championship. He started off with a Mini S2000 and switched to a Mini WRC during the season .
