Jewgeni Maximowitsch Novikow ( Russian Евгений Максимович Новиков , also Evgeniy Novikov ; born September 19, 1990 in Moscow ) is a Russian rally driver. In 2009 he drove for the Citroën Junior Team in the World Rally Championship .

Career

From an early age, Novikow drove in karts . During this time, his father discovered rallying for himself, so that at the age of 13, Novikov became his father's co-driver at local rally events. Two years later he started rallying himself and won the Russian Rally Cup in 2006. In 2007 he started in the WRC for the first time at the Rally Wales . In the following season he drove 6 rallies in the P-WRC, which takes place as part of the World Rally Championship. In 2009 Nowikow was signed by the Citroën Junior Team and was registered for eight championship races. He had four accidents and finished three times outside of the points. Only in the Rally Italy did he finish fifth overall that year and thus achieve his first world championship points. Even so, his average results weren't good enough to stay with the Citroën Junior Team for the next season . In 2010 he did not contest any World Rally Championship rounds. At the 2011 World Rally Championship he has competed in five rallies for the Stobart M-Sport Ford Rally Team, and he has reached the finish line twice. With twentieth place in the Rally Greece and fourteenth place in the Rally Sardinia , he had not yet managed to get drivers' championship points until the last two rallies of the season . In Catalonia and Wales, he reached seventh overall and finished the championship in 17th place. In 2012 , Novikov finished sixth in the World Championship and came second for two times, making the Russian the youngest driver to finish on the podium in a World Rally Championship run before that record was broken by Kalle Rovanperä . In 2013 , he finished seventh in the World Cup, despite some serious accidents. For 2014 Novikov got no more place in a WRC team.
