At this event, which started according to the new regulations , the new WRC vehicles Citroën DS3 WRC and Ford Fiesta RS WRC were used for the first time . According to the new regulations, this rally also saw the first power stage , in which the three fastest drivers scored bonus points for the drivers' world championship. The rally took place from February 10th to 13th, 2011 in the provinces of Värmlands län and Dalarnas län in western Sweden . This event also included the first of seven rounds of the Production World Rally Championship ( PWRC ) 2011.

Routing and conditions

The paddock was set up in Karlstad , where the ceremonial start took place. The special stages largely consisted of icy, snow-covered, gravelly forest paths. Twenty-two special stages with a length of 350.08 km were started as planned. The total length including connecting stages was 2059.89 kilometers.

On the evening of February 10th, a short “spectator special test” was started, which had no influence on the starting order of the next day. It snowed incessantly for 18 hours during the night and until the afternoon of February 11th. The reigning world champion Sébastien Loeb , who was the first to drive the uncleared special stages with the number 1, had to draw an ideal line through the snow for the following vehicles and thus lost time on his pursuers.

The second and third stages of the event were held at temperatures around −20 ° C with a clear sky and no further precipitation.

Reports

The first five were within 15 seconds after the third day. Sébastien Loeb worked his way up to sixth place, he was more than 1.40 minutes behind.
